BackGround:
This posture is considered a favorite of the two Hindu deities,
Hanuman and Angada. Practiced regularly, it is believed to help develop
self-confidence.
Technique:
(1) Rest the right knee on the floor. Bend the left knee, so that the left foot
is on the floor. (2) Bring the arms parallel to the shoulders; clench the
fists. (3) Slowly straighten the right leg and raise the body so that its
weight is on the left foot. Extend the left arm; flex the right arm so that the
elbow touches the waist.
Advantages:
As this asana strengthens the legs and arms, it helps in problems
related to tremors in the extremeties cause by neuromuscular diseases. It is
also useful for regulating sleep.
